The vision of Uganda is to achieve a country free of neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) and related morbidity and disabilities. To that end, the Vector Control Division (VCD) was created. Tackling a wide range of diseases and public health issues, the division has also trained many young scientists and assisted a wide range of research projects.
Success stories from Uganda
- Certified free of Guinea worm in 2009.
- Interrupted transmission of onchocerciasis, trachoma and LF in some districts.
- Morbidity due to schistosomiasis and STH significantly reduced.
